Jan was born in 1654 in Holland.  Jan's father was Harmen Coeten and his mother was Aertje Gerrits (Coeten). He had four siblings of unknown gender named Gysbertje, <Unknown>, Guertje and <Unknown>.  He was the fourth oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 43 on January 1st, 1697 in New York, NY, USA.
