Stanley was born on January 27th, 1897.  Stanley's father was Andrew DeGroat and his mother was Emma F. Sigler (DeGroat).  His paternal grandparents were John DeGroat and Margurette Perry (DeGroat). He had seven brothers and a sister, named Daniel, William, James, John, Judine / Judson ?, Clarence, Paul and Minnie.  He was the eighth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 89 in August 1986.
