Minnie was born in April 1885.  Minnie's father was Andrew DeGroat and her mother was Emma F. Sigler (DeGroat).  Her paternal grandparents were John DeGroat and Margurette Perry (DeGroat). She had eight brothers named Daniel, William, James, John, Judine / Judson ?, Clarence, Stanley and Paul.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
