  • 1808 During Dec 1808 Peter and Hannah Courter of Vernon sell to Phillip Courter of Vernon land in Vernon for $80. The property is east of William Winans Tavern part of 90 49/100 returned to John .... in book S8 p 171 and also part of lot purchased of Richard Edsall containing 40 50/100 acres. Witnesses John Seward and John Therogue. Interviewed 28 Jan 1809 and Recorded 22 Feb 1809.
    
    1809 9 Feb 1809 Joseph and Elizabeth Sharp of Hardiston sell to Peter Corter of Vernon for 2.5.0 per acre land on west side of Warwick Mountain in Vernon. Recorded Book S5 p 371 and contains 99 48/199 acres returned to John Delancey book S8, p 171. Land contains 51 12/100 acres. Witness John Johnson and William Coffee. Interviewed 10 Mar 1812. Recorded 16 Aug 1814.
    
    1824 He made his will on the 18 Mar 1824.
    
    1826 His will was probated 24 May 1826 at Sussex County #1845S.
    To his wife, Hannah, he left land on the west side of the meadow next to the farm of Richard Vandale. If she wants she give land to her daughters at any time but Nathan should receive 4 acres. Nathan to have all the land set off to him already. The rest of my farm should be given to my son, Peter. This land is on the south side of farm by land of Thomas Dekay. Peter Courter and Nathan Courter should pay David Courter and Jonathan Courter five dollars. His young daughter Peggy some household furniture. To Ann Ruttan the wife of Abraham Ruttan, Mary Ruttan the wife of Robert Ruttan, Jemima Osborne the wife of Elias Osborn, Sarah Ruttan wife of Henry Ruttan, Hannah Sigler the wife of Oliver Sigler and Elisabeth Springer the wife of Andries Springer five dollars. Appoints Peter Courter, his son, and William Ricky executors of the estate. Witnesses were Seely Edsall, John Vanderhuff and Thomas Dekay.
